The Brief
We were asked to redesign this modest, sloping garden in Gillingham, Dorset which had with a disproportionately small patio. The central request was to increase the level playing area for their young child and provide stylish entertaining space for adults. The design had to incorporate mature existing palms and tropical planting.
The Solution
By designing the garden at an angle we were able to maximise use of available space. Levels were tackled with simple block and render walls painted in a Mediterranean blue. Easy maintenance raised beds now house hardy plants selected for their vibrant flower colour or foliage interest.
The quality cedar deck extends the level seating area and colour matches the rich sandstone paving and sandstone setts used for the paths. Crushed white marble provides dramatic contrast as gravelled areas and as infill for the bespoke water feature.
