When it finally stops raining, there is much to enjoy in the winter garden.
Yellow is one of my favourite colours at this time of year bringing some muich needed warmth and joy to otherwise dull days. I love the sprays of yellow of winter hazel, Coylopsis pauciflora which can start as early as late February in milder winters. Planted en masse they are a wonder in a partially shaded woodland garden, especially when underplanted with a mix of ferns and Hellebores.
